Shah-i-Zinda is a necropolis in the north-eastern part of Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
The Shah-i Zinda necropolis is a complex containing tombs and mausolea built between the eleventh and fifteenth centuries, centered around Qusam's, first cousin of the Prophet Muhammad, mausoleum. Timur buried many of his female family members at Shar-i Zinda. Ulugh Beg built a monumental gateway, and a series of terraces in 1434-1435.
Many kinds of wall patterns are seen.

シルクロードの中心都市サマルカンド（ウズベキスタン）有数の聖地、シャーヒズィンダ廟群。多様な装飾とその美しさ故に、中央アジア屈指の名所と称される。
入口の門をくぐり抜け、階段を上がり、ほぼ一直線に廟が立ち並ぶ。
髭を蓄えた巡礼と思しき老人が廟内のベンチに腰掛けて休んでいる。その姿を写真にとる旅人もいる。
静かな時が過ぎてゆく。
「青い都｣の名に恥じない青いタイル。青いドームが青い空に吸い込まれそうだ。
